Worn at: Comic World LA 1 (debut)
General: Candidate for Goddess is a cute series. I'm nowhere as devoted to the series + artist as Ten Ken is, but Zero is a really funny character and since Ten Ken wanted to cosplay as Kizuna, she kinda dragged me into it. Zero's such an arse! ^^; Anyway... this has got to be one of the most skimpiest MALE costumes out there. (Except for a few others... *ahem* ^_- And yes, this is another one of those "When did I agree to this?" costumes.) Since I had originally planned this costume for Ani-Magic, it was put together rather hastily for Comic World LA 1.. but looked great anyway!
Vest: I did some funky self measuring and made a pattern by myself for the vest. It turned out better than I expected... It was fun to put the vest together entirely by myself. I ended up having to cut strips of white cloth (doubling up on the cloth) individually for the vest lining. It worked out okay, though I'm thinking of taking off all the pieces and remaking the lining with ribbon. A zipper was sewn onto the front and worked wonderfully, you can barely see the zipper, which was what I intended. I cut the vest high so that teasing bit of skin shows through at all times when wearing the costume... I must have been out of my mind. ^^;; Yeah, right, anyway.. the G.O.A emblem was painted on with acrylic paint, but I'm going to take it off and reapply it with fabric paint or cut it out of felt or something.. which seems like a better idea.
Shorts: Ooookkaaayyyyyy.... the one VERY big problem I have with this costume is the shorts. They're pretty DAMN accurate to the actual length in all the pictures... *cough* And the shorts along with the garters make it very hard to sit down in. ^^;;; But it's not just that that I'm afraid of... it's me trying to avoid the constant butt-shot attempts by my friends. ^^;; Not to mention my embarrassment when one of our friends implored me to "model" my backside for her... which turned into her yelling "SEXY!" and calling the rest of her friends' attention to my backside. ^^;;;;;; Yikes.
Hair: I regret not having spiked hair for Comic World... but after cosplaying as Taichi at SDCC and looking at my future costumes, I'm going to invest in some super sculpting gel for my hair to get those spikes done right! Even if it means cutting my hair again. ^_-
Group: I think our outfits really complemented each other... and it's amusing because since our outfits are just the school uniforms, we can pretty much cosplay up to about 20 characters each with just these outfits! However, I will mostly stick to Zero though, since he's such a cute character. ^^* Not only do we fit the characters well, we end up acting a lot of like them too. ^^; Looks like we'll have (hopefully) more members of the cast... only one that we're pretty sure on, though.
General: I love this costume, if only because I love the series so much. It is my first costume by my favorite artist, Sugisaki Yukiru, and I can't wait to do more. I hope to be able to wear it more, and expand on the group. I might even do some alterations, so I can go as multiple people in the series. But Kizuna is cool, she's not one of those super winey annoying girls, but she's sweet too, so I like her. Course any character by Sugisaki Yukiru is cool, and I think cat-girls are cool. Any series where the girls wear comfortable baggy sweatsuits and the guys wear skimpy shirts and vests is okay with me!
Hair/Ears/Hat: Sewing ears on a wig is really hard, at least my pink wig is really nice. The hat rocks too, I wear that just 'cause I like it. Heh, and I'm not a blonde when I wear the wig! Yay! Thats, what, a total of two out of ten that aren't blonde?
Pants: Half pants! What a novel idea! I still where tights with these 'cause it just feels really weird with one leg really cold and all. I saved the other leg so if I ever decide to go as any of the other girls I can just reattach it and have another costume! Or I could make a skirt and go as one of the upper girls... wai! I love versatile costumes...
Jacket: Faaaaavorite part of the costume. Its so nice and soft and fleecey and I love it! I'd wear this out just 'cause its so nice. I used an iron-on material to put on the symbol and stitched the pink strip-thingys on. I just want to make a better ID card thing.
Shirt: Twinkie! I mean, Tube cloth! I took a piece of tube cloth, slipped it over my head, marked, cut, and stiched it! I wanna make a twinkie costume now, that stuff is cool!
Group: Yay!!! I'm sooo happy I got someone to go in this group with men, and make those godly short-shorts. Hee hee hee... I dunno, but those things are dang small! I wanna expand, I wanna do more groups by Sugisaki Yukiru! I wanna get more boys in hot pants!
