General: KoF is one of the cooooolest fighting games! I fell in love with it when ever since I played one of the older KoF games. I was looking for any KoF costume to do, and when I mentioned that I was looking for one to Mack, he suggested Athena. =D She's not my faaavorite character, but fun nonetheless and I decided to make the costume for Ani-Magic, where a large gathering of KoF cosplayers were gathering. Unfortunately, I arrived too late to get to the big gathering (seems like a few others arrived late too!) but I had fun anyway! I'm really glad I made the costume... it was totally fun to put together and pretty easy to wear around too! I need to redo some parts of the costume; however, due to the lack of pictures I had at the time I was making the costume. Outfit: The entire outfit was created out of various types of satin, one of my currently favorite fabrics. ^_^ The main body part of the costume was made through another one of my make-shift patterns and ended up turning out quite well! I had to work with a lack of pictures on the costume too. Athena's outfit has the typical annoying Mandarin collar, which was rather tedious. I used gold bias tape for the lining and attached a hidden zipper down the front. I also attached the short blue sleeves to the outfit after I made them out of the blue satin. And the shorts are actually my Misao shorts ^_-, just with the purple bottoms pulled up and attached firmly to the inside where you can't see them.
Gloves: X_x What a pain in the butt. I resolved to make the gloves myself out of the satin that I had to match the outfit. Unfortunately, the satin does not STRETCH, so it got really interesting at the sewing table. I fit the gloves (fingerless) to my hands, then attached another longer piece to extend the gloves below my elbows, with clasped shut with two or three buttons. The ring of gold around the fingers on the gloves were irritating as well; I used hem tape to stiffen the bias tape and attached it around the fingers.
