With Van as Folken at Fanime 01
Worn at: Fanime '01 (debut)
General: This costume is indeed classified as another "Why Am I Doing This?" costume... but it was fun, nonetheless. One late night, Van asked me if I wanted to do the costume with her as Folken and Jey as Nariya (both whom I did the Weiß Kreuz cosplay with at AX99) and I agreed for some reason. I never imagined that I would be doing this costume! But it's sooo cute, and it's my first "official" catgirl. The weeks leading up to Fanime were incredibly hectic and I ended up doing this costume on the last two or three nights... so it came out well, but not perfect. Not to mention that these three costumes were originally planned for AX01, but were suddenly moved up for Fanime01.Bodysuit: Mmm.. fun. I used lycra for all the white parts in the costume, which is really pretty and easy to sew! The base layer was the entire body suit made out of the grey fabric, and then the white pieces were individually cut, painted, and heat and bonded onto the costume to minimize stitch marks. The pieces bonded to the bodysuit creates a nice effect.. though the bodysuit is rather tight on the backside due to a problem with the white piece attached to the back stretching incorrectly. I'll be repairing that soon to wear to AX01. The black lining you see all over the bodysuit on the grey parts was hand drawn on while in the car driving up to Fanime. ^^; (A little last minute, ya think?) It actually achieves the effect well, though I'd like to go over them in a darker marker.
Dress: For modesty reasons. :p I'm SO glad that I made it... you don't see the two twin catgirls wearing it too much in the anime, but it's there. ^_^
The Group: Van made a superb Folken, though I didn't get to walk around with her for very long at Fanime. ;_; Unfortunately Jey didn't wear Nariya at the con.. but I'm definitely looking forward to AX01 where the three of us can run around in these cute costumes and take pictures! It'll be fun to have a twin! =^-^= meow~
Fanime 01: *LOL* This is random.. but I thought I would put it in to.. I dunno, point out some embarrassing point for some reason. ^_^;; At Fanime, I didn't bring a picture to reference from when I was putting on the costume.. so I ended up wearing the boot cover on the wrong leg and forgot the face markings. o_O Oops~~ so I'm sure more people ended up thinking I was Nariya at the con despite the blondish hair... tee hee. =^-^=;
